Another Way to Interact
While RCC members have a great opportunity each month to learn during our professional development webinars, sometimes a more casual conversation might be what’s needed. There are many topics that lean toward more sharing info and best practices instead of the presentation-style session.
That’s why we offer Third Thursday Talk – casual Zoom meetings, designed as an interactive conversation among members with a designated topic each session.
Reserve your calendar for the third Thursday of each month, usually from 1 -2 pm ET. Zoom details will be shared here and through the monthly newsletter and social media.
This month: Thursday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. ET – social media
Did you know:
– Among U.S. adults, social media is a daily habit: in 2024, 18–24-year-olds spent about 186 minutes per day on social platforms, while adults 65+ still averaged around 102 minutes per day
– In a 2023 Pew study, about 11% of U.S. adults said they follow or keep track of their own religious leaders online or on social media, and about 10% said they post prayer requests online.
– In 2023, an estimated 84% of churches had an active Facebook page, underscoring how central social media has become to basic church communication and visibility.
Join us for our next Third Thursday Talk as we dive into what’s working (and what’s not) with social media for faith-based communicators. From Facebook to reels to stories of online spiritual engagement, this informal webinar chat will focus on real-world examples, practical tips, and shared best practices from RCC colleagues. Whether you’re a one-person shop, part of a large communications team, or just trying to steward your community’s online presence more faithfully, you’ll come away with fresh ideas and encouragement.
Bring your questions, your challenges, and your best posts—we’ll learn from one another and explore how social can support telling your organization’s story, not just marketing.

Jan. 22 – Insight into the DeRose-Hinkhouse Memorial Awards
Trying to decide what to enter for the DeRose-Hinkhouse? Have a question about what needs to be submitted, or which category is relevant to your project?
For our January Third Thursday Talk, RCC Board chair Ryan Koch and DeRose awards committee chair Rev. Brian Fesler led an informal conversation about the inner workings of the DeRose-Hinkhouse Memorial Awards. Former DeRose recipients Wesley Wolfbear Pinkham and Curtis Ramsey-Lucas also shared their tips related to entering (and winning!).
