There’s something powerful about coming together at a crossroads.
It’s a place of meeting. A place of movement and possibility. A place where different paths converge—and where we have the opportunity to decide together where we go next.
That spirit is at the heart of our 2027 Convention, “Faith Communications at the Crossroads,” coming April 15–17 to Salt Lake City. And now, we’re excited to unveil the visual symbol that will carry us into this gathering.
The logo design is the creation of RCC Board of Governors secretary Kathy Rice, who serves as Director of Communications and Public Relations for the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville.
At first glance, the logo captures the history and character of Salt Lake City. At its right is a powerful reference to the Golden Spike, commemorating the moment when the nation’s first transcontinental railroad was completed in Utah. Two railroads—and two great journeys—came together at a single point, creating a new connection that would change the country.
That image of coming together feels especially meaningful for us as faith communicators.
The train shape in the logo points toward that historic convergence, while the golden elements echo the Golden Spike itself. But look more closely, and you’ll see something else: white forms weaving through the design, representing people coming together—collaborating, connecting and striving toward something better.
That is our work, too.
We communicate at the intersection of faith and culture, tradition and innovation, institutions and individuals, familiar audiences and new ones. We navigate changing technologies and media landscapes while seeking ways to communicate with clarity, compassion and purpose.
And we don’t do that work alone.
The logo reminds us that the most meaningful connections happen when we come together.
At Convention 2027, we’ll gather at a particularly significant moment for faith communications. The world around us is changing rapidly, and the ways people encounter information, engage with faith and understand one another are changing with it. At this crossroads, we have an opportunity—not simply to react to change, but to imagine what comes next.
Our convention will be a place for learning, conversation and collaboration. We’ll explore new challenges and new possibilities, share what we’re discovering in our own work, and build connections with colleagues who understand the unique opportunities and responsibilities of communicating faith in today’s world.
We’re also looking forward to special opportunities made possible through partnerships with the Religion News Association and the International Association of Religious Journalists, as well as the rare opportunity to tour the newly renovated Salt Lake Temple, opening to the public for the first time in more than a century.
But perhaps most importantly, we’ll have the chance to be together.
So, as you see this logo begin appearing in the months ahead, we hope you’ll see more than a beautiful design. See an invitation. See a railroad coming together. See people crossing paths, sharing ideas and working toward a better future. See a reminder that we are stronger—and our work is better—when we connect.
April 15–17, 2027. Salt Lake City.
The crossroads are calling. We hope you’ll be there to help us discover what comes next.
